dies quickly August 15, 2010 emerson pacheco bought it, tried setting it up as a repeater, that was a no go. Finally recognized the netgear router and established a bridge, go to deploy and the unit stops transmitting a signal.
overall unit feels cheap, glossy cover equals fingerprints, assembly feels poor (like itll fall apart rather quickly).
for some reason i cant change the time, so it permanently assumes its 31 december 1999.
it won't last. mine lasted 6 hours, looking around everyone seems to accept that these things die on you. why put up with it.
Tech Support Useless June 4, 2010 R. Miller Good luck if you're trying to use this as a wireless repeater. I have a Netgear router and tried unsuccessfully for hours to get this working with the router. Also, tech support basically doesn't exist... 45 minutes on hold... still holding. It's midday on Friday (eastern time).
Weird April 15, 2010 M. J. Fraser (WA, USA) I have an older Netgear RangeMax access point, and so thought I would replace it with this to get the Wireless-N and - possibly - even better coverage.
Didn't work. This thing only gave me full signal strength when I was standing within about 6 feet of it, and even that didn't work all the time.
Tried all the technical support advice from the Netgear website, tried tweaking the configuration just about every possible way, but couldn't get it to do anything that even remotely resembled a strong or fast signal.
Eventually went back to the old RangeMax, which provides great coverage and a stronger signal. Go figure. But I can live without wireless-n for now.
To be fair, of course, it's possible I just had a faulty unit.
Don't buy this!!!!!!!!!!! March 13, 2010 Peeved customer (Illinois) Don't purchase this device. It is impossibly complicated to set up if you are a mere mortal. And after four hours on the line with customer service, who finally concluded that the particular box I purchased was a dud, it appears that even if you are a wireless set up expert you can't get it to work. This was supposed to boost my AT and T U-verse signal. It didn't. At one point the customer service rep suggested that, since the device wouldn't work properly on the laptop that was near the gateway box in the basement that I should take my desktop apart, transport it down to the basement, and we should try setting up the Netgear device using that computer. How helpful!!!!!
Not Bad November 19, 2009 K. Nordhus 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
A decent enough product but a little pricey for just what it can do.
It does work pretty good once everything is set up. But the instructions are not all that easy to follow. Because of
this I suspect that some people may give up and end up returning the product. Bottom line you're going to need to be a little computer
savy to use this product without getting very frustrated.
