Plug in and Play July 28, 2010 Marc Versley (Tampa, FL, USA) I am very happy with the ease of use. I don't need a router. I want the wireless devices on the same network to access network printers and servers. I plugged it into the network and I got an immediate connection for my iPod Touch. Logging in and configuring is the same as any other Linksys device. I have great coverage. Very happy.
Great for our application July 12, 2010 ross 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We have a house in Texas that is about 300ft away from the office. We didn't want to dig a trench and run cables over so we bought two of these. The initial setup was fairly easy. I set the AP's on a static ip on the local LAN and set them both to bridged mode.
Note: We set the AP's up in a window on both ends to get better signal strength. Your results may very depending on your layout. Wireless travels best with no walls and from top, down.
Don't mix these with Linksys consumer products July 12, 2010 Keith W. Baron (Hillsdale, MI) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently purchased this product to extend my wireless coverage on my home network. I have a Linksys WRT310N wireless-N router and a Linksys 8 port gigabit switch. I've been unable to use the Wireless WDS Repeater or the Wireless Client/Repeater modes with the Linksys WRT310N wireless-N router, no matter how I configure the WAP4110N.
Evidently this has also been a problem with the WRT610N see "WRT610N AND WAP4110N CAN'T BRIDGE WIRELESSLY" at [...]. According to David Carr, a Cisco monitor "A reasonable solution would be not use the wrt610n and get a wrvs4400n version 2. Your connecting up a consumer product up to a small business product and in the past i have seen issues with stable and reliable connections..."
Also in certain recent models only SSID #1 works while the rest do not, see "WAP4410N MULTIPLE SSID NOT SHOWING" AT [...]. A firmware patch is being worked on but not yet generally available. The product overall is a good one if used with the following recommended router/switches: WRV440N wireless gigabit router or the SRW2008PSwitch with POE. Please be careful if trying to connect to Linksys consumer grade products.
- Further investigation has led me to understand that the WDS mode which allows wireless repeating and bridging is not available in the consumer class devices. Also the SSID patch is now readily available through Cisco Support.
WAP4410n - best on v1 firmware July 10, 2010 Mark Coleman 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have 3 of these WAP4410n AP's running in office environments, all over PoE connected to enterprise level Cisco gigabit switches. These are great units on the v1 firmware. Recently bought a new one that came with the latest firmware. Using PoE connected to a Cisco 3560 gigabit switch, the AP would turn off after about 15 minutes of operation on PoE and wouldn't come back on. Hooking it up to regular power would get it going again, and then you could disconnect the wall plug and let it run on PoE for about another 15 minutes before it turned itself off again. Nothing in the event logs of the AP or the switch. I downgraded the firmware to the older v1 version, and it's been solid as a rock ever since.
I'll buy some more of these and keep trying the new firmware, but if I run into any problems it will be back to v1 for solid operation.
AP hangs or stops and needs rebooting daily July 5, 2010 channing hansen 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a crap AP. Would be great if it worked but the WAP4410N keeps dropping out every other day with the only way to fix it is with a power cycle.
I have two V1's with firmware 2.0.1.0 installed. Both are connected to different managed Netgear GS724TP's. One is running on POE the other is not.
After I've reboot them, the log file has a bunch of "hostapd: ptk update fail" Don't know if that's related.
I've just set the APs to force 100M. We'll see how that works over the weekend.
Monday I'll contact RMA and see if I can get V2's I'll keep you posted as to what I find.
Really disapointed in Cisco. I expected them to make Linksys products better, not worse.
There's a huge forum of many people having the same problem with no help from support. [...]
DO NOT BUY THIS until they fix it!
