Using as a repeater August 31, 2010 Josh Konigsberg (Washington,, DC USA) Unlike some of the prior reviews, I found the instructions easy to follow and had this device set up as a router in a few minutes. Device seems to work well, although it does seem to be re-booted (power cycled) every couple weeks. Happy with the purchase
Saved time and money! August 13, 2010 Jesse C. Slicer (Olathe, KS USA) After owning a rather poor product in the same category that I was trying to connect my ReplayTV (wired Ethernet only) to my wireless network with, the WL-330gE came along and worked perfectly within five minutes of setting it up. Because of how well it worked, I got a second one and hooked them both up to a couple of wired routers (one in my bedroom and the other in my living room) which each have three devices happily on the home wireless network. The only downside is that it follows the trend of most modern electronics and have a REALLY BRIGHT BLUE LIGHT on it that must be on all the time. Electrical tape works wonders on these.
Used as a Repeater August 1, 2010 Tim Leitner Sr. (Oregon) Love it. We use is primarily as a Repeater and it functions great. We've been able to expand our WiFi signal to include our entire house and yard. Not to mention that it is small enough to easily hide.
A small practical device to expand your wireless network, among others July 22, 2010 BMJ 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My wireless router is in the basement with limited coverage for the 2nd floor and the patio. So my aim was to expand my wireless network coverage. ASUS WL-330gE proved best value and has several functions one of which is to expand the wireless network (labeled as Repeater mode). Now I have an excellent coverage all over my property.
The following are the steps I did to set it up:
1. Power on your WL-330gE through the attached USB power cord.
2. Connect the WL-330gE to your laptop through an Ethernet (RJ45) cable.
3. Disconnect your computer from internet/router. (Wireless off or unplug Ethernet cable)
4. Open the Internet browser in your computer and type in 192.168.1.220 in the
address box. Type admin for ID and admin for password.
5. Select Repeater tab
6. From the available wireless devices select yours enter your password and connect.
7. Click on the advanced setting at the lower left corner and select IP config then select Yes for get IP Automatically.
8. Click apply then logout.
9. Disconnect your ASUS from the computer. Find a central location in your property and connect the device to the power outlet. You do not need to connect it to the net work or a computer
Asus WL 330-GE July 20, 2010 Nigel Cheung This is a great little product! I bought this when it first came out in Taiwan (before it hit US shores) and it is still going great! It can help you save money too by sharing the internet connection in hotel rooms - but you need to be careful what mode you put it in - Gateway mode is probably good for 90% of folks. It even has a "Hotspot" mode that can allow you to share a paid wireless connection - some wireless providers require that each wireless connection has to pay. This device makes it look like only one laptop is connected! Great little device! The only thing I would ding it on is ease of setup. For regular set up it is easy but for repeater and other modes it gets difficult.
It's also great if you have an iPhone or other device that can only connect to the internet wirelessly. Even when there is a wireless signal around, I find this works faster and better for VOIP calls (which I use all the time!)
I love the product! Want to buy one as a spare actually! These things are so small they would be easy to forget or lose.
