The WG602 makes it easy for even a novice to set up a wireless network: just plug the included Ethernet cable from your LAN into the device and insert the included CD into any computer on the network, which will provide step-by-step instructions. The WG602 offers a myriad of placement options by including a stand for vertical placement and slots on the bottom for mounting on a wall or ceiling. The default 2 dBi omnidirectional antenna can be removed and you can install an external antenna most suited for your needs onto the standard SMA connector. The WG602 employs a web-based interface for configuration, allowing you to adjust settings such as the beacon interval, RTS threshold, and DTIM interval. The firmware is also upgradeable via the web interface so you can be sure your access point will always be up-to-date. Fast and Secure

 Not for the faint of heart ! August 1, 2010

Spent a good deal of time trying to get this thing to work properly. The manual is of little help. Has few specific instructions and limited troubleshooting options. I am a linksys user as well and find configuring their products childs play compared to this bear. No significant online help or set-up options as far as I can tell. Hope You have better luck than me.

I bought this item as a refurbish product more than a year ago and is still working perfectly like a new one without no hesitation.The signal strength is very good as it works with in the perimeters of my premises and even can get Wi-Fi connected to my laptop from the upper floor.Their is no hard and fast configuration and the product finish is superb and the downloading speed has not dropped down a single bit from what i earned from my RJ45 cable connection.I would very much recommend this product to anyone who is looking for an AP.

This particular access point is Version 3 of the product line. I purchased a Ver.4 before this one and was pleased with the setup choices. The Ver.3 will do the same after a simple firmware update from Netgear. I have both of them setup as bridges making a 1/2 mile wireless link with a couple of high gain home-made cantennas. It will do point to point or point to multipoint bridging, wireless repeating, access point or work as a wireless adapter for some of your non-wireless gadgets. Got What I Deserved for Being Cheap March 20, 2010

My wishful thinking convinced me I could use this to hook up my ethernet-only Blu-Ray player to my wireless router so I could watch Netflix movies over the Internet, all for $36. As others have pointed out, it doesn't work as a wireless bridge. I ended up buying the "Linksys by Cisco Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming and Video Adapter" for $99 to get the job done.
 Became flaky after about 1 year... December 30, 2009

For the first year, I had no problems. Now, I have many flakiness issues reporting by others. I have a strong signal that later drops in the same location. Rebooting the unit seems to get it working again but that is not a solution. I have upgraded to the latest firmware with no correction. I have other netgear products and I'm a fan but not with this product.
